HUNDREDS of people turned out to see the Freedom Parade celebrating the RAF in York on Sunday.

The parade saw members of the air force's brass bands, including representatives from RAF Linton On Ouse, march through the city, viewed by Lord Mayor Cllr Keith Orrell, as residents and visitors to the city lined Duncombe Place and the streets around York Minster to watch them.

Following the parade, members attended a special service at the Minster to mark both 100 years of the RAF, and a commemoration of the Battle Of Britain.

There was also a Turning of the Page Ceremony for the air base's Book of Remembrance on Sunday to mark the event.
