HAIRY Biker Dave Myers has teamed up with local branches of Specsavers to encourage older workers to prioritise eye health.

Acomb store director, Stephen McEnaney, said: “Our eyes are so important for our jobs and early detection means we can do something about conditions so that people can keep their jobs.”

National Eye Health Week, which runs from September 24-30, is being back by celebrity chef Myers, who developed glaucoma at just 54.

He said: “Thankfully, it was spotted during a routine eye test before it was too late, but if it had gone unnoticed, i cold have gone blind.”

As part of the campaign, Specsavers at Low Ousegate and Acomb will be offering free eye tests throughout September.
