A BLIND man was the victim of a hate crime in North Yorkshire, police have said.

North Yorkshire Police said the man was verbally abused over his disability on County Bridge between Malton and Norton, at about 10am on Saturday, September 15.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or has information on the suspect.

A spokesman said: "In particular, we are appealing for information to assist us in locating the offender, who is described as having a local accent and had a child with him. They were both riding bicycles.

"Police would also like to speak to a possible witness, who spoke to the victim after the altercation occurred. The witness is described as having a foreign accent and said that he recognised the offender."
