CITY Screen, York, will offer film fans a chance to catch the latest movies for free on Sunday, September 30 as part of National Lottery Cinema Day.

"To celebrate the National Lottery’s support for British film, they’re giving away thousands of free tickets at participating cinemas across the UK and City Screen is taking part," says marketing manager Dave Taylor.

Audience members simply need to show a Lotto ticket for draws between September 26 and 29 to receive a free cinema ticket for any film showing on September 30, although Screen Arts and premium-priced events, such as the satellite screen coverage of Soft Cell’s final concert are excluded from the offer.

Tickets for the screenings are available only on the day from the Coney Street box office and only issued on a first-come, first-served basis from 10.30am. You need to be aged 16 plus to acquire a free ticket. National Lottery players have helped fund thousands of projects across the British film industry since 1994, supporting and nurturing new talent through nationwide training and development schemes, as well as engaging the next generation through educational initiatives in schools and at BFI Academies.
