TRAIN services through York are currently experiencing heavy delays.

Storm Ali, which swept through the region yesterday, caused huge problems on the rail network and train operators are still clearing up.

Many trains are back on schedule, but services heading north of York to Thirsk, Northallerton, Darlington, Durham, Newcastle and into Scotland are subject to delays of up to 30 minutes and even cancellations.

TransPennine Express tweeted that tickets for cancelled trains would be accepted on all other services, including Virgin and LNER, while LNER managing director, David Horne, tweeted his apologies.
