A MAN has been charged to court after allegedly driving to a primary school in Ryedale smelling of "intoxicants".
Traffic constable Mark Patterson wrote on Twitter that Ryedale Police contacted him for advice after seeing a vehicle arriving at a school containing a passenger who allegedly had a baby sitting on her knee.
He said he spoke to the driver and noticed that he allegedly "smelled of intoxicants."
TC Patterson added that the driver "refused to provide a breath sample" and was arrested.
At custody, he "continued to refuse to cooperate", and has been charged to court, TC Patterson said.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police confirmed that a man in his 30s has been arrested and charged with failing to provide a specimen after police stopped a car in Norton at 3.45pm yesterday (September 19).
The man is due to appear in front of magistrates in Scarborough next month.
