FRESH yellow warnings have been issued for more strong winds in the next few days - and there could also be torrential rain tomorrow - after police dealt with more than 80 problems in four hours caused by windy weather on North Yorkshire's roads this afternoon.

Incidents included a tree coming down on a road at Newburgh, near Coxwold, and a roofbox blowing off a vehicle on the A64 near Middlethorpe, York. The roofbox was completely smashed.

A roof also blew off a property at Cayton, near Scarborough, landing on the A165, and a roof collapsed in Meadow View, Sherburn-in-Elmet.

Yellow warnings have been issued by the Met Office for more very strong winds tomorrow evening and into tomorrow morning, and again for Sunday and into early Monday.

The winds will create a chance of damage to buildings and of injuries and danger to life from flying debris, it says.

Forecasters say there will also be heavy and persistent rain tomorrow afternoon, with the risk of torrential downpours.
