TRACTORS and traction engines will be on parade in the city tomorrow as part of the York Steam Rally.

Friday's Road Run will set off from Murton Park at 3pm and head down the A1079, Foss Islands Road, Jewbury, Lord Mayor's Walk, Gillygate, St Leonard's Place and Duncombe Place to York Minster where they will congregate.

Motorists are being advised to choose an alternative route and spectators are being urged to park responsibly or use the Park & Ride. Duncombe Place will be a No Parking area to leave room for the engines.

From 5pm, they will return to Murton Park, along Museum Street, Lendal Bridge, Station Road, Rougier Street, George Hudson Street, Micklegate, Bridge Street, Ouse Bridge, Clifford Street, Paragon Street, Barbican Road and Hull Road.

The York Steam Rally is organised by the Derwent Valley Light Railway Society (DVLRS) in conjunction with Murton Park, with all profits going to the Society.

It includes a weekend of entertainment at Murton Park with music, including Atlanta Country Rock American Band, vintage vocalist Paula Marie and Hayley Mckay, rides, monster trucks, ploughing demonstrations and wartime vehicles. www.yorksteamrally.co.uk

Tickets on the gate are: Adults £10, Children £7, Family ticket £30 (2 x adults 4 x children).

After 6.30pm half price entry for the evening entertainment.
