AN event will be held later this month for people to share their ideas and thoughts about how the York Castle area should look in the future.

As part of York Castle Museum’s ongoing consultation, people are invited to join members of the Castle Project team and My Castle Gateway team to walk around the area, look at the buildings, hear the history and discuss what should be included in future plans.

An architect will be on hand to help visualise ideas and put thoughts and words into pictures. The outcome will be included in a brief given to architects commissioned to work on the York Castle Museum development.

The creative walk, talk and sketch session is free and will take place on September 25 from 1pm to 3pm.

Helen Langwick, York Castle Museum content and interpretation manager, said: “This is a great way for members of the public to put forward their ideas for the York Castle Museum redevelopment. We are particularly interested in looking at how people move around the site, what makes York Castle Museum special and what is the best way of engaging all of our visitors in the stories we tell.”

The walk will start at St Mary's church, which is acting as a hub for the Your Castle consultation, before a walk around York Castle Museum site.

Those taking part will then return to York St Mary’s to chat further about their ideas.

In addition to an architect being on hand during the workshop, facilitators will help by putting ideas into words.
