MORE than a hundred people attended the opening day of a new estate agency in a York village.
Stephensons opened its new office in Haxby with scores of locals attending to find out more.
Oliver Newby, partner in Stephensons, said the team were pleased the public cam to visit the new site and welcome them to the village.
He said: “People obviously liked what they saw and heard as we have already been instructed by a number of new customers to act as agents on the sale of their property.”
The new office was opened in the same week Stephensons won gold for York in the British Property Awards, and Mr Newby said he was “delighted to receive the positive words and praise from the residents of Haxby and Wigginton”.
He said: “Whilst many people are suggesting the days of ‘High Street’ agents are numbered, this just proves to us the importance of independent companies having a ‘High Street’ presence to enable them to offer the bespoke tailored services the local people of York deserve.”
The company is converting the first floor of the property into two apartments which it hopes to give back to the community at affordable rental rates in coming months.
