A CONTROVERSIAL application to build a large-scale housing development in East Yorkshire has been deferred.
A reserved matters application was submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council by Linden Limited, JG Hatcliffe Associates Ltd and HS Thirsk to build 225 homes on land south east of Groves Farm, in Pocklington.
The proposed development already has outline planning permission. This would be the third phase of development on the POC-F housing allocation site.
The application went before East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s planning committee on Thursday.
A spokesman for East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: “The decision was that the application be deferred for further consultation with the applicants regarding the provision of single storey dwellings within the housing mix for the application, following which it would be resubmitted to the committee for determination.”
A group of residents started a petition against the application, which attracted 116 signatures.
