STROKE survivors and members of York Speakability Group are gearing up to take on a 25-mile cycle from York to Selby today for charity.
Group treasurer Jo Milan, 55, from Haxby, had a stroke nine years ago which left her with aphasia and limited movement in her right hand side. Jo is overcoming the effects of her stroke to take part in the bike ride alongside fellow group members and stroke survivors, Michelle Ruddock and Jane Steel, as well as their partners.
They are raising funds for the Stroke Association.
Jo said: “We fundraise each year for a different charity, and this year we’ve chosen to support the Stroke Association to help others affected by stroke to get the support they need. I’ve never taken part in a cycle before so this will be a challenge! I have an exercise bike and I’ve been cycling Monday to Friday, five miles each day to help ensure I’m prepared.”
