ROD Stewart has announced his 2019 UK Tour with a date in York.

A temporary concert arena will be built specifically for the event on Saturday, June 1, in the middle of Knavesmire next to York Racecourse's Clocktower Enclosure.

The fully-seated Rod Stewart Live In Concert event is in support of his 30th studio album Blood Red Roses, to be released on September 28.

Pre-sale tickets will go on sale at 9am on Wednesday, September 19 and can be accessed by pre-ordering the new, 13-track album from Tickets then go on general release at 9am next Friday, September 21 from with hospitality packages available from York Racecourse.

The concert, which is on a non raceday, is the second venue in the tour which begins on Friday, May 31 in Southampton.

Chris Ward, racecourse music events spokesman, said: “York Racecourse is delighted promoters Cuffe & Taylor will be bringing Rod Stewart to York Racecourse on Saturday 1 June 2019. We are excited Rod Stewart is set to perform his first ever concert in York.”

This will be Rod’s first UK tour in three years following the success of two sold-out tours in 2016 – The UK Hits Stadium Tour and the arena tour “From Gasoline Alley to Another Country Hits.”

The tour is being promoted by Cuffe and Taylor whose director Peter Taylor said: “As his fans know, Rod presents the most amazing shows.
