OPPORTUNITIES for budding interior designers are still up for grabs at an upcoming annual event for York’s art lovers.

The Art& show is billed as an accessible and affordable art show and offers collectors and amateur art lovers alike chance to meet artists, commission work and buy unique pieces.

Art& will be at York Racecourse in October and will offer everything from glass and ceramics, to painting and drawing, jewellery and textiles, sculpture and stonework.

The theme this year’s is ‘home’ and, in addition to the work of more than 120 artists, there will be a number of room sets on display.

Art& York co-director Victoria Robinson said: “We’re really excited about this new theme and delighted that our visitors will enjoy these room settings in which carefully chosen art from the show will be included.”

Organisers are currently on the lookout for budding interior designers with a passion for design and a great eye, regardless of experience, to fill two remaining places.

Each room should include artwork from at least three exhibitors, but otherwise designers are essentially provided with a blank canvass to create their vision.

A prize is on offer for the best set. The deadline for applications is September 29.

Victoria said: “Key is making the setting work with the art. We hope to inspire visitors to see how different art forms can really enhance a room, and vice versa.”

“We have such an amazing range of work at the show from which to choose. It’s going to be fascinating to see the results.”

This year’s show will also offer the chance to meet the RAW Talent artists - a group of 12 emerging artists who have won a subsidised place at the show, mentoring and access to group workshops. In return, a percentage of any sale they make goes back to the scheme.

All other exhibiting artists pay for their own stand and organisers charge no commission on sales.

Art& is on from Friday, October 26 to Sunday, October 28. Times, advance tickets and application details at www.artand.co.uk
