THE SEARCH for a man, missing from Canada for more than 30 years, has led police to York.

Dennis Crook was reported missing on Tuesday, October 22, 1985, in Victoria, British Columbia, by his friends, who last saw him on October 16.

Investigators said Mr Crook - who would now be 66 - was born in England, educated in York, and graduated from the University of Nottingham, but currently had no photographs of him to share with the public.

A spokesperson for Victoria Police Department said the search had been reopened, and investigators were now attempting to find Mr Crook's sister, Lillian, who lived in York.

The spokesperson said: "Lillian Crook, Dennis’ sister, is known to have resided in Holgate, York. Investigators are looking to find Lillian and speak with her. Our officers are reaching out to the North Yorkshire Police, as well as residents of Holgate as part of our efforts to locate Lillian and ultimately, Dennis.

"Dennis, now a 66-year old, is described as a Caucasian man five feet, nine inches tall with a medium to large build. He was 34-years old when he was reported missing. At that time Dennis had brown eyes and black hair."

North Yorkshire Police said they were assisting Victoria PD with their appeal, and urged anyone who knows Lillian Crook or has information which could aid the investigation to contact them on 101 or 01904 618691.
