POLICE have charged a man with possessing a knife in a public place in York.
North Yorkshire Police's York North Safer Neighbourhood Team wrote on Twitter that officers on patrol in Heworth stopped and searched a man on Tuesday night.
They allegedly recovered a knife and chisel, as well as some gloves.
The team tweeted that they made one arrest on suspicion of going equipped to steal and for possession of a bladed article.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said a 26-year-old man from York has now been charged with possessing a knife in a public place. He will appear at York Magistrates Court on October 25.
The spokeswoman added that there will be no further action taken in respect of the offence of going equipped to steal.
