A WOMAN was "talked down" from a bridge in York last night.
North Yorkshire Police said it was called at about 10.50pm after concerns were raised for the safety of a woman on Scarborough Bridge who "indicated an intention to jump into the water."
Police, York Rescue Boat, fire and ambulance services attended the scene.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire fire service said: "York fire rescue boat together with Acomb crews and York river rescue boat mobilised at police request for a female on Scarborough Bridge who was talked down by police."
A police spokeswoman added: "Thankfully, at around 11.30pm, the woman came down from the bridge of her own accord and was taken into the care of mental health professionals."
