A MAJOR housebuilder, with a number of local projects on the go, has announced strong year-end trading results.

The report from Barratt Developments shows that pre-tax profits are up by 9.2 per cent to £835.5 million, with an increase in ordinary dividend shares of 4.7 per cent.

The company’s medium-term targets include a further 3-5 per cent growth year on year.

Paul Hogan, sales director for the Yorkshire East region, said: “We have had another fantastic year, with strong regional demand for our homes across North and East Yorkshire.

“As Yorkshire’s, and indeed the UK’s, largest housebuilder we are actively helping to address the country’s housing shortage – creating jobs and supporting economic growth whilst continuing to lead the industry in quality and customer service.

Current developments at Derwenthorpe, in York, and Grange Park, in Harrogate, are almost sold out, with new developments now underway in Selby, Whitby and Hull.
