ORGANISERS of York’s upcoming Food & Drink Festival have launched an exciting new attraction for this year’s event.
Festival director Michael Hjort joined forces with local businesswoman Sophie Jewett, founder of York Cocoa Works, to launch the Food Factory.
Described as “learning by doing”, the hands-on experience will offer the chance to make a range of foods from scratch - and then take them home to enjoy.
Michael said: “It’s your chance to understand how butter, cheese, ice cream, pasta, bread, chocolate and preserves are really made.”
He said the attraction has been designed for adults and children: “The experience is tailored towards each group and becomes more hands-on or technical depending on the audience.”
The factory will be in St Sampson’s Square and will open throughout the festival between September 21-30. For the full festival programme and to book visit www.yorkfoodfestival.com .
