YORK residents are being asked to help determine the future of a soon to be completed community centre.

Hungate community centre is being planned as part of the major, 4.7-acre regeneration of the last remaining brownfield site within the city walls.

It has been approved as part of the masterplan, but its purpose and function has yet to be decided.

Developers Lendlease and Evans Property Group have set up a liaison panel for the people of the area around Hungate to put forward their suggestions for the new building.

Over the coming months, residents will be invited to a series of focus groups at the Hungate marketing suite on Stonebow.

If you would like to register your interest in joining one of these sessions email community liaison manager Steven Graham on steventhomas.graham@lendlease.com .

Suggestions so far for the new building have included a community cafe, art rooms, a music hall, drama facilities and a location for advice sessions.
