AN EVENT will be held in St Sampson's Square, York, to mark the tenth anniversary of the National Bus Pass.

From 12.30pm on Thursday, September 6, the York Bus Forum and National Pensioners Convention will welcome people from across the north of England to mark the anniversary.

The event will include a number of speakers, and the Forum is also calling for the free bus passes to be issued to everyone over 60, as they say the bus pass "prevents isolation and loneliness, allows people to travel and meet up with family and friends, take part in social activities and engage in volunteering to help their communities".
