YORK confectioner Nestlé has revealed it is launching a spooky edition of Smarties as the nights get longer and the Hallowe'en season fast approaches.

A spokeswoman said 'Scaries' consisted of a mix of autumn coloured brown and orange Smarties, with the brand logo updated to Scaries, alongside a ghostly Halloween design.

"Scaries will be available in a sharing bag format to share with family and friends adding the perfect ingredient to ghoulish get-togethers or nights in front of a scary movie," she said, adding they would be available from September 6 in Asda stores and from October 3 in selected Tescos.
