POCKLINGTON Arts Centre’s first ever Handpick’d Festival on September 28 and 29 has just grown bigger with the addition of a Late Night Festival Club on both nights.

Should festival-goers be pondering "what do we do when the main stages finish? Surely we don’t have to go straight home?", here is the answer. York music scene stalwart Charlie Daykin and Ava Rose will host the post-show club in the first-floor bar.

Firm favourites of Pock Arts Centre's Busking in the Bar sessions, Charlie and Ava will perform as a duo, complemented by "some very special guest appearances" throughout each night until 1am.

"We're both really looking forward to returning to PAC to host the club nights because we've performed at Pocklington's Platform Festival and the Busking in the Bar sessions and have always had a great time with wonderful audiences," says Charlie, who regularly runs the third stage for burgeoning talents at Platform's gatherings at the Old Station.

Tickets are selling fast already for the inaugural Handpick'd Festival of established and emerging acts. On the Friday, headliners Rick Witter and Paul Banks's Shed Seven Acoustic set will be supported by fellow York musicians The Howl & The Hum and Jade Helliwell.

On the Saturday, Oxford singer-songwriter Thea Gilmore will top a bill featuring The Eskies; Seafret; Coco & The Butterfields; poet Matt Abbott; The Dunwells; Buffalo Skinners; the Dan Webster Band; Bella Gaffney & Polly Bolton; Rachel Croft; Amy May Ellis; Me, Thee and E and Katie Spencer.

Charlie welcomes the festival's diversity. "We think the festival line-up is a brilliant mixture of established artists and up-and-coming local acts, featuring a diverse range of artists across many styles and genres," he says.

Weekend tickets cost £61 or £57 for under 18s; Friday-only tickets are down to limited availability already at £27.50/£25; Saturday-only tickets are priced at £36.50/£30.

Tickets plus more information, such as timings and the line-up in full, are available at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk or on 01759 301547. Festival-goers can keep up to date with all things Handpick’d on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
