ANOTHER major milestone has been reached in York's huge Hungate development.
A topping-out ceremony marked the latest phase of the construction of hundreds of new homes on the previously derelict industrial site.
One of the guests, York Central MP Rachael Maskell, said the development had restored the area, providing new homes and much-needed local jobs and apprenticeships for the city.
She said the developers had worked closely with local businesses and residents throughout construction,' and for this we are grateful.'
Richard Cook, of joint venture developers Lendlease, said Hungate had become a welcome city centre extension, with a previously derelict site transformed into a new riverside community with a design and build sympathetic to York’s rich history.
