LET’S keep summer alive as long as we can, says Kentmere House Gallery owner and curator Ann Petherick, whose Bloom? Yorkshire's Hidden Gardens show concludes this weekend.

"More new work has arrived, such as Susan Bower's Flowers In Blue Vase, Terence Bennett's Roseberry Topping and Ann Kilvington's Grimston Manor," says Ann, whose gallery in Scarcroft Hill, York, will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

On show are works painted by artists in privately-owned gardens that open to the public in aid of charities. "Artists have continued to paint the gardens throughout the summer, so we've had a rolling exhibition," says Ann, who has selected artists, both known and unknown, that work in myriad styles.

Also for sale is the latest book by specialist art publisher Mascot Media, entitled The Illustrated Garden: 224 pages featuring 500 original prints of gardens, allotments and garden wildlife by more than 60 British artists.

Kentmere House is open every Thursday, 6pm to 9pm, the first Saturday and Sunday of each month and at other times by appointment on 01904 656507 or 07801 810825.
