DOZENS of scarecrows with a Shakespearean theme - from Richard III and a Midsummer Night's Dream to The Merchant of Venice - can be seen across a York suburb today.
The Heworth scarecrow trail is being organised by the Friends of Glen Gardens and takes place from 9.30am until 5pm in the gardens of about 28 nearby properties.
The trail's theme is in recognition of the pop-up Shakespeare's Rose Theatre created near Clifford's Tower this summer.
Maps with all the scarecrow locations marked on them are on sale from a kiosk in Glen Gardens, costing £2.
Visitors will be asked to return after touring the area and vote for their favourite scarecrow.
