A NUMBER of people were seriously injured in a 'large-scale, violent' fight in a North Yorkshire coastal town.

North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened in the rear beer garden of The Top House (Station Hotel) pub, on Church Street, Filey, between 10.45pm and 11.15pm on August 18.

It said the incident escalated into Laundry Road, and it involved an altercation between a number of people, both men and women. Bottles and garden furniture were used by some of the people involved, the force said.

A police spokesman added: "A number of people were seriously injured during the incident, with several people requiring hospital treatment. One man was knocked unconscious, received facial injuries and suffered heavy bruising and one man sustained a large cut to his face and another man lost a number of teeth among other facial injuries. There were a number of other people that suffered cuts and bruising as a result of this incident."

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information.
