Rather later than I expected, I see that our Tribunes of the People - aka MPs - have put in a demand for more money to pay for extra staff to deal with Brexit.

As I recall, in the old days, when MPs debated and enacted laws rather than just rubber stamping them, they only had constituency agents and not staff empires; their families had ordinary jobs like everybody else. Perhaps American political dramas have given them ideas beyond their station.

With regard to Brexit all they need is the loan of a guide dog to take them to the right voting lobby. Before anyone is offended on behalf of David Blunkett, that excellent, blind former Home Secretary, I would mention that he is on record as telling the House of Lords that no one has the right to obstruct the People’s will as expressed in the Referendum. In this he agrees with his fellow ex-Labour Minister Lord Prescott.

Perhaps our MPs could save money by modifying their activity and leaving social services work to the professionals.
