So the Taxpayers’ Alliance are against spending money on a car for our Lord Mayor (Mayoral car costs taxpayers £39,000, August 21). Their Chief Executive claims that residents are tired of this ‘excessive spending’.
Given their comments are fairly generic it begs the question did they speak to any York residents about this issue? Probably not.
I have often wondered who are the Taxpayer’s Alliance? A quick look on the net and it is clear they are a political pressure group closely linked to the right. I am disappointed that the media often fail to make this clear when reporting their views.
So remember, when the Taxpayer’s Alliance are quoted they do not represent most taxpayers.
