Further to the recent comments regarding global warming: if predictions are correct and the weather patterns are changing to extremes of heat and cold, wet and drought we surely have to evolve and adapt to our new climate or we will become extinct.

Having said that, the extreme difference between the outside air temperature and the inside of shops, supermarkets and offices equipped with air conditioning is a shock to the system.

It would make far better sense for the air conditioning buildings to run at a more ambient temperature making the transition between inside and outside less of a shock to the system and would help us adapt to our new climate. We have the reverse problem in winter in moving from cold outside temperatures and into over-heated buildings while dressed in your outdoor winter clothes.
