I would like to think that everyone in the city of York has realised by now what a mess the council is making of running this city.

King’s Square, Lendal Bridge, Leeman Road, Stonebow and Piccadilly are just a few of the insane ideas on traffic plans, paving areas and new builds.

We now have another hotel looking likely to be built alongside one already being built in Piccadilly - naturally for the tourists. Shops which we could conveniently pop into in the centre of town are disappearing by the hour and it is not just the ridiculous high rates they were charged, putting greed first and forcing them out, but shopping centres on the outskirts being allowed to be built. Not everyone has a car.

As far as wasting money on special projects and attractions go, the tourists have and always will visit York because of its history. Oh, I forgot, one last thing: potholes on patchwork streets making our lives a misery.

A short answer to all this is to get rid of this government and get rid of this council and let’s have some people in with concern for the local residents and some plain common sense.
