NEW affordable housing in Selby is close to completion, ahead of schedule.

The five new homes in Riccall were built by Selby and District Housing Trust, to be managed by Selby District Council.

Cllr John Mackman, chair of the trust, said: "The development at Riccall is a typical example where we’ve been able to support apprenticeships, helping young people to learn the skills they need to work in the local building industry."

Council leader Mark Crane said: "Different people have different housing needs – that’s why working alongside the Housing Trust to deliver new affordable homes is such an important element of all the work we’re doing to support new housing."
