YORK City Knights boss James Ford reckons "all the pressure" remains on Bradford Bulls in the title race - but says he hasn't thought about where they might slip up.

York are level on points with odds-on favourites Bradford at the top of Betfred League One, the pair clear of the chasing pack with six games to go, but John Kear's men have a healthy points-difference advantage of 92.

The former World Club champions also appear to have the easier run-in, but Ford has taken no notice of those fixtures - saying his focus is on his own team and on "being the best we can be each week", continuing with Saturday's trip to West Wales Raiders.

Asked where he believed the Bulls' biggest hurdles remained in the two-horse race for the sole automatic promotion spot, Ford said: "I've not thought about it. I'm just thinking about West Wales and playing well.

"We can't control how well or how badly Bradford play or how well teams play against Bradford. We can't control referees or the weather or how well teams play against us.

"What we can do is make sure our preparation is as thorough as ever and that on the field we play as well as we can.

"We have to concentrate on what we can control and on leaving no stone unturned and being the best we can be every week."

On the odds of York somehow toppling the Bulls, he added: "Bradford have been big favourites all season and were big favourites before the season started. I don't think that has changed.

"We've been good enough to be level on points with them at the minute.

"I would say all the pressure is on Bradford. Everyone expected them to run away with the league at the start of the season.

"We're just taking it one game at a time and will try to keep improving. We're trying to be as good as we can be each week."

After this weekend's expected romp against League One's whipping boys, Ford's men have three consecutive tough games against old arch-rivals Hunslet at home, third-placed Workington away and fourth-placed Oldham at home.

Then follows a trip to Hemel Stags before they conclude the campaign at home to play-off-chasing Whitehaven - one of only two teams to have beaten them so far this term.

Ford says coming through unscathed would be an "immense achievement".

Bradford go to North Wales Crusaders this weekend, then host Workington and neighbours Keighley. Then come trips to West Wales and - in arguably their toughest remaining test - Oldham. They finish at home to minnows Hemel.

Ford said: "I've not looked at Bradford's run-in. We can't have an influence on that.

"All we can do is focus on our run-in and our next game and being as good as we can be week by week.

"We've got six tough games to play and we've got to be good enough to win them, and that in itself would be an immense achievement.

"Our focus is on West Wales at the minute, making sure our preparation for them and for the journey and what we're facing is spot-on and making sure our performance is as good as it can be."
