Keen golfers are teeing up to raise money for a local charity.
Teams of four are practising their shots ahead of the York Against Cancer annual golf day which takes place on Friday September 14.
This year’s event is being held at the Malton and Norton Golf Club and Club Captain Keith Potts is looking ahead to an exciting day of sport and fundraising.
Keith has supported York Against Cancer for more than 20 years and became even more involved after he lost his wife, Christine, to cancer.
He has supported the golf day for many years, even buying a trophy for the golfers to win, but this is the first time he has organised the event, which will be staged on the Welham course at Malton and Norton.
“The golf days have been great,” said Keith. “I always look forward to the event; you always meet new golfers and catch up with people from all the different clubs around. We are hoping for a great turnout to raise as much money as possible for York Against Cancer.”
There’s still time to sign up for this year’s event. Entries are welcome from ladies, gentlemen or mixed teams of four, at a cost of £240 per team including lunchtime sandwiches and a two-course evening meal.
Sponsors this year include Your Move Anscombs estate agents and mobile communications experts Cellhire.
