SOUL singer, Strictly Come Dancing finalist and musical actress Alexandra Burke is to reprise the lead role of Rachel Marron on tour in the West End hit musical The Bodyguard.
Burke, who won the fifth series of The X Factor, will perform at all evening performances only on an itinerary that will take in Hull New Theatre from January 8 to 19 next year.
Latterly, Burke has played Svetlana in Chess at the London Coliseum and soon she will appear as Roxie in Chicago at the Phoenix Theatre, London. She starred as Deloris Van Cartier in the national tour of the musical Sister Act that visited Leeds Grand Theatre in August 2016, having led The Bodyguard cast there in May that year.
In The Bodyguard, former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer is hired to protect superstar singer Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they do not expect is to fall in love. Cue a romantic thriller that features such hits as Queen Of The Night, So Emotional, One Moment In Time, Saving All My Love, Run To You, I Have Nothing, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.
