A PASSENGER in this car suffered a fractured sternum after it crashed on the A64 near Tadcaster.

Sgt Paul Cording tweeted that the passenger was 'otherwise OK,' while others who were in the car and in another vehicle involved in the accident suffered minor injuries, 'which when you look at the cars really is good news.'

The accident happened yesterday on the westbound carriageway at Headley Bar. Police tweeted that there was also a crash almost directly adjacent on the eastbound carriageway involving two motorcycles.

Traffic Constable David Minto said this accident resulted in only a minor injury to one rider.
