FIREFIGHTERS went to the aid of two distressed animals in Ryedale today.
During the morning rush hour, crews from Huntington, York, Malton and Ripon, combined forces to pull a cow out of the River Derwent at Buttercrambe using a boat and ropes. The animal was unharmed.
Just before lunch, Ripon firefighters were again on animal rescue duties, this time with colleagues from Pickering, Sherburn near Scarborough and Malton.
They went to the aid of a collapsed horse in Malton, which they moved to a safe position and left with a vet.
