FIREFIGHTERS were called to two fires in the open in York on Wednesday evening that were both believed to have been started deliberately.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at about 6.40pm about a fire in Acomb Wood.
Crews attended and found a small fire in the open which they put out.
The fire service also received a call at around 8.45pm about a fire in the open in the Hob Moor area.
When crews arrived, they found a small fire on the ground which they extinguished.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "They were both believed to be deliberate."
