PUPILS at Pickering Community Infant and Nursery School have put on a show of their artistic endeavours over the year.

The exhibition, which ran for several days at the end of June, was officially opened by Pickering town mayor, Joy Andrews.

Working in a range of different materials, the pupils, aged three to seven, created pieces based on different themes depending on their year group, from children’s literature to artists such as Kandinsky, Matisse and Mondrian.

Acting head teacher Rob Newton said: “We continue to be very proud of the art exhibition which showcases the children’s hard work, enthusiasm and imagination.”

“As a school we place a significant amount of emphasis on the arts.

“All children access weekly, high quality art teaching where they are taught new skills and given opportunities to use and apply them using a range of media.”
