FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire to an area of grassland near York last night (July 10).
At around 10.15pm, a crew from Acomb was called to reports of grassland on fire at Skipbridge, on the A59.
They put out the fire that had spread across 10 square metres of grass using a hose reel jet.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The cause is believed to be discarded smoking materials."
