THE Grand Opera is inviting theatregoers to be on the best beehive-iour when attending Hairspray – The Musical at the York theatre from next Monday to Saturday.

"We'll be giving away a show programme, signed by the cast, to a Sixties-style well-dressed winner at each performance," says customer experience deputy manager Megan Conway. "All you have to do is Tweet your ‘look’ at the Grand Opera House Selfie Spot, located in the foyer bar, to @grandoperayork with your seat location before each performance begins to be in with a chance of winning."

The winner will be announced at the interval. Bars are open from 1pm at matinees and 6pm for evening performances; tickets are on sale on 0844 871 3024 or at atgtickets.com/york .

Oscar, Tony and Emmy Award-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman's musical comedy is set in 1962 Baltimore, where Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, is on a mission to follow her dreams and dance her way on to national TV. Tracy’s audition makes her a local star and soon she is using her new-found fame to fight for equality, bagging local heartthrob Link Larkin along the way.

Rosie O’Hare plays Tracy Turnblad, joined in Paul Kerryson's cast by Matt Rixon as Tracy's mum Edna; Graham MacDuff as dad Wilbur; Brenda Edwards as Motormouth Maybelle and Layton Williams as Seaweed. Olivier Award-winning Drew McOnie has choreographed the show.

Performances start at 7.30pm, July 16 to 21, plus 2.30pm Wednesday and Saturday matinees.
