A NEW judge has arrived at York Crown Court to take up a post there.
Judge Simon Hickey, a former Pocklington School pupil, was welcomed to the court centre by Judge Andrew Stubbs QC.
The Honorary Recorder of York, Judge Paul Batty QC, is currently on long term sick leave, and is reported to be making good progress.
Judge Hickey has taken over Court Two, while Judge Stubbs presides in Court One.
The former Pocklington School pupil started sitting in judgement as a part-time judge or recorder in 2002 and was made up to be a circuit judge in 2012.
He has also been a district judge.
