A LOCAL school is celebrating good news in its recent Ofsted report.

Kirk Hammerton CE primary had an Ofsted inspection earlier in the summer term and are now officially graded as ‘good with many features outstanding’.

During his visit, the inspector spoke to pupils, subject leaders, parents and governors and observed lessons.

Chair of governors Leanne Eaton said: “This is an amazing result. At our last inspection in 2016, the outcome was ‘Requires Improvement’.

“This was on the back of our permanent head teacher leaving and having two interim head teachers.

“It has been a tough couple of years and in that time we appointed a new executive head who has driven changes and developed the school.

“I am so pleased that the improvements that have been made have been duly recognised.”

During the autumn term, the school will hold an open day for prospective September 2019 new starters, but appointments can be booked to look round at any time.
