PLANNING is underway ahead of York's second fashion week which will take place next spring.

York Fashion Week – an offshoot of Fashion City York which promotes the centre as a shopping destination – will take place from Monday March 25 to Sunday March 31 2019.

It follows the success of this year's inaugural Fashion Week which took place in April and saw 3,000 people attend 53 events.

Ahead of next year, organisers will be hosting a planning and networking event at the Principal Hotel on Wednesday 4 July from 6pm, which will be open to old and new participants.

The evening will include a complimentary glass of fizz, nibbles, a review of this year's event and plans for 2019.

Nicky Hayer, head of marketing for Fashion City York, said: “This event is a great opportunity to come along, meet others taking part and find out how to get involved.

"The event is open to everyone and it's free to take part. There is an opportunity to advertise in the brochure however, and we will be offering a discounted rate to those who sign up on July 4th.”

This year's fashion week, which was supported by the York BID and sponsored by Harrowells solicitors, saw a range of events including in-store shopping evenings, catwalks, workshops, talks and activities for children.

Chairperson Angela Horner said: “York Fashion Week 2019 is set to be even bigger and better.

"We would like to encourage designers, students, shops, hotels, galleries and restaurants to all get involved.

"The more that is going on the better – and will attract more residents and visitors into the city.”
