A NEW children's outdoor play area and garden has opened at Foxwood Community Centre.

Volunteers created a playground at the centre and the area was resurfaced thanks to funding from the Ultra Fibre Optic (UFO) network currently being rolled out across the city by TalkTalk.

Westfield ward councillor Andrew Waller, who was at the opening event, said: “We are really thrilled with the new playground and that we were able to get it done in time for summer.

"Local residents and volunteers have been working really hard to create a lovely outdoor space for everyone and this was the final piece of the jigsaw. We would like to thank York’s UFO from TalkTalk for making this possible.”

The super fast broadband will be available to about 9,000 homes in Dringhouses, Woodthorpe, Foxwood and Chapelfields in the coming months.
