POCKLINGTON Arts Centre's doors will be thrown open on Saturday for a chance to discover all that is happening at this hive of arts activity over a free cuppa and a piece of cake.

Running from 9.30am to 12.30pm, the open day will provide an opportunity to meet the newly expanded management team; take a tour of the venue; enjoy a cinematic preview of this summer's blockbusters and find out what live events and exhibitions are coming up.

Visitors also can learn more about joining the Friends of Pocklington Arts Centre and discover the venue's journey so far, as charted in archive footage that will be on display.

Saturday's event coincides with the completion of a newly expanded team and comes only weeks after the venue officially became one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio locations. Venue director Janet Farmer and venue manager James Duffy are joined in the team by new marketing and audience development officer Sara Morton and venue coordinator Vanessa Simmons.

"The idea behind the open day is to give everyone the opportunity to meet the newest members of the team who are now in post thanks to our newly acquired NPO status," says Janet. "Visitors can also discover all that PAC has to offer with its busy and varied programme of live events, films, exhibitions over the coming month,s as well as further information on venue hire options for private functions, community groups and businesses.

"This is a really exciting time for us and we want everyone to be a part of it, plus there will even be free cake and light refreshments on offer, so come along and discover for yourself what all the excitement is about."
