BEER and live music will be on tap at Yorkshire brewery tomorrow in a bid to raise funds for the Candlelighters Trust.

Rudgate Brewery, based near Tockwith, are hosting Rudfest, a beer and music festival in aid of the charity.

Visitors can also book a brewery tour and go behind the scenes to discover how their favourite bottles of real ale are brewed, including the CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain, Ruby Mild.

The Volsung Vikings will be on parade to ensure there is plenty of fun for children too.

There will be costumes to try on and youngsters can try their hand at some battle re-enactments and learn more about the Viking way of life.

The festival which starts at 1pm and runs until 8pm will have live music throughout the afternoon and evening by local bands, including Crisis Brewing, whose drummer is Rudgate Brewery managing director, Craig Lee.

Craig said: “Brewing and music are two of my favourite things and I thought that if I can bring them together to raise money for such a great cause as the Candlelighters, whilst also offering people a great afternoon out, then why not.

“The response from local businesses, outside caterers and bands has been great. From offering to play at Rudfest to companies offering fantastic raffle prizes, it’s been great to see the support out there for a real ale beer and music festival quite literally, on our doorstep.

“In previous years, we’ve held a charity beer festival in Boroughbridge, Beer on’t Brigg, but that involved transporting lots of beer into the village hall. By hosting Rudfest onsite, at the brewery, it means that we are unlikely to run out of beer! There will be plenty of food and soft drinks available too, including our neighbour Kinoko kombucha, it’s brewed on the industrial estate, next door to us.”

The brewery is on the Marston Industrial Estate, Tockwith between York and Harrogate and free coach transfers will be operating between Cattal Railway Station and the brewery.
