A 1940s festival has received a donation from an East Yorkshire housebuilder.

McCarthy and Stone, the company behind the Chestnut Court Retirement Living development in Martongate, Bridlington, donated £550 to the Bridlington Old Town Association for their 1940s Summer Festival.

The festival takes place on Sunday, June 10, with representatives of the firm joining locals, volunteers and families in vintage clothing for the day.

The donation to the festival was presented by McCarthy and Stone marketing executive, Tina Morrell and sales executive Julie Middleton, to David Hinde, Bellman of Bridlington Old Town and Old Town Association at the local McCarthy and Stone development, Chestnut Court.

Mr Hinde said: "The festival is all about bringing the local community together, as well as thousands of visitors from all over the country and celebrating the era of the 1940’s and we would like to thank McCarthy and Stone for the ongoing support and hope their homeowners will enjoy the 1940’s style festivities."
