PAUL Weller will play a one-off date at York Barbican on August 23 in the lead-up to the September release of the Modfather's 14th solo studio album, True Meanings.

Weller, who turned 60 on May 25, says: "I’ve always loved playing York; such a great city and the audiences have always been fantastic. I’m looking forward to heading back there in August."

Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am on 0844 854 2757 or 0844 249 2222, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or Bookingsdirect.com and in person from the Barbican box office.

Weller, the former leader of The Jam and The Style Council, will be playing York in advance of his Birmingham Genting Arena show on 24 August, rearranged from March 2 when snow forced its postponement, plus two festival appearances: the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth on August 25 and The Downs Festival in Bristol on September 1.

Weller last played York Barbican on April 7 last year when promoting the May release of his A Kind Revolution album.
