YORK'S Festival of Ideas begins on Tuesday with more than 200 events, mostly free, all across the city.

The festival, running for its eighth year, starts on Tuesday, June 5 with a with a performance at York Minster by acclaimed children's author and story teller Michael Morpurgo.

The festival will host the second of the 2018 BBC Radio 4 Reith Lectures with historian Margaret MacMillan, and BBC Radio 3 will record an evening of talks. Other highlights include talks from Judy Murray, human rights campaigner Shami Chakrabati and broadcaster June Sarpong.
